Le mwbaCactoideae mwbqmwbgEaton, mwbw1836cite-ref-1[1] sono la più vasta mwdasottofamiglia delle mwdqCactaceae comprendente circa mwdg1800-2500 mwdwspecie suddivise in 10 mweatribù e circa 120 mweqgeneri.

Data la copiosa quantità di specie e difficile parlare di affinità, ma in linea di massima le Cactoideae sono in gran parte globose e presentano grosse areole lanose con lunghe spine ricurve bianche o nere.
